Nomi began acting at the young age of 8…. before that, she just acted up. She’ s appeared in TV, film and theatre in Vancouver, the UK and Los Angeles where she debuted the starring roles in two award winning plays:
Devon in ‘The Green Room’ and Joan Crawford in ‘Legends and Bridge’.
Graduating from the Acting program at Studio 58 Theatre School in Vancouver but focusing on singing Nomi took private lessons with many esteemed vocal coaches including Luigi Wood, Nikolai Kolesnikov, Seth Riggs, Bob Garrett, Alisa Kort, Lori Donato.
Delighting audiences around the world with her four-octave range and with chameleon-like versatility, her sizzling and energetic performances have included a wide-array of musical styles.
From her theatre beginnings to her hard-rock days fronting, Smart Alice, on to premier cruise ships and then dishing out swing and jazz with The New Modernaires, Nomi has continued to express the full range of her theatrical flair. No matter what kind of music Nomi has sung, her passion for cabaret was never far from home.
Enjoying being part of the “Golden Age” of the Hollywood Cabaret scene in the ’90s, Nomi has presented her cabaret acts at prestigious rooms in Los Angeles, Palm Springs, San Francisco and Vancouver including: The Cinegrill, The Gardenia Room, The M Bar, Little Frida’s, The Oasis and Blame it On Midnight. The Top-40 band, OFeelya, Nomi fronted was Arnold Schwarzenegger’s House Band at his restaurant Shatzi’s before he became the “Governator”.
Reuniting with the award winning team of Foster & Pelletier, Ms. Lyonns co-created Cabaret Confessions of An Eco-Diva – one woman’s musical journey in trying to find balance between glamour and environmentalism. Part cabaret, part game show it offers an eclectic collection of classic cabaret fare, popular modern music, as well as some sassy, light-hearted original material.
